Draft Sketch

This pattern is inspired by traditional Chinese culture and is specifically designed for baby blankets. The elements in this design hold deep symbolic meaning, with the intent to convey blessings, protection, and prosperity for the child.

  • Side Borders (长命锁 - Longevity Locks): The patterns on both sides feature the traditional Chinese "Longevity Lock" (长命锁). In Chinese culture, these locks symbolize the protection of a child’s life, warding off evil spirits and illness to ensure the child's safety and well-being.
  • Traditional Coins: Interspersed with the Longevity Locks are traditional Chinese coins, which represent wishes for the child to have a prosperous and abundant future. These coins signify protection from poverty and a hope for a life of wealth and comfort.
  • Central Tiger Motif (虎头鞋 - Tiger-Head Shoe): At the heart of the design is a tiger, with the nose symbolizing a "golden ingot" (金元宝), a classic emblem of wealth. The ears of the tiger are adorned with cloud patterns (祥云), which represent good fortune and luck. The overall tiger design is inspired by the traditional "Tiger-Head Shoes" (虎头鞋), a legendary symbol in Chinese folklore. It is said that if a child wearing these shoes is in danger, the tiger will leap from the shoes to protect them. In this design, the tiger serves as a guardian figure, symbolizing strength and protection for the child.
  • Surrounding Elements (蟠桃 - Peaches of Immortality): The motifs around the tiger consist of peaches, which, in traditional Chinese culture, represent longevity and eternal happiness. The peach flowers symbolize the hope that the child will grow up to be cherished and loved, with a future filled with joy and popularity.
